Welcome to the "2000
Total Lunar Eclipse" gallery of astrophotographs.com!
The photographs below are more of our most
recent efforts. Included are photographs from the 2000 Total Lunar
Eclipse as seen from Conifer, Colorado.
The 2000 Total Lunar Eclipse images were taken on January 20, 2000
from Conifer, Colorado. All of the photographs were taken at prime
focus of a Celeston C-8 telescope with optical reduction to f/6.3.
ASA 1600 Fujichrome color slide film was used. The camera was an
ancient Pentax Spotmatic. Photographs were taken by Cheryl Price,
Lindsay Price and Willis Greiner. It is interesting to look at the
smaller eclipse pictures in order and as a group; you can see that
the moon's limb changes brightness as it moves through the eclipse.
At mid-eclipse it is more evenly lit (and dimmer, taking into account
the exposure data) and at the end of the eclipse, the moon loses
its orange color and becomes a black & white subject again.
