to the "2001 Zimbabwe Total Solar Eclipse" gallery
The photographs below are among
my most recent efforts. Included are photographs from
the 2001 Total Solar Eclipse as experienced from the village
of Rushinga, Zimbabwe. For
much more on this event and to access many photographs
and narratives featuring our travels to Zimbabwe, click
on this text and link to the freestanding web site www.willisgreinerphoto.com.
All of the 2001 Total Solar Eclipse images were taken
on June 21, 2001, from Rushinga, Zimbabwe. The photographs
were taken at prime focus of a Celestron C-8 telescope
with optical reduction to f/6.3. ASA 100 Fuji color negative
film was used on all of these eclipse astrophotographs.
The camera was an ancient Pentax Spotmatic. [An interesting
sidebar is that my venerable orange C-8 (accompanied by
my wife and I) was pictured in the October, 2001 issue
of Astronomy Magazine, in Editor-In-Chief Bonnie
Gordon's column. Astronomy Magazine, along with
Tours, were the organizers of our extraordinary time
in Africa.] Much more on this is available at willisgreinerphoto.com
and in a recent newsletter.
I was also honored to have two
landscape/wildlife photographs published in the "Hot
Shots" section of that same issue.
